Several United supporters suggested McTominay’s nomination was “fully deserved” as the 23-year-old is a “future captain” in-waiting, although some fans disagreed, with one even calling the decision “daylight robbery.”

His teammates Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford have also enjoyed stellar seasons under the club legend, as the defender has played in 26 league games, providing 2 assists, making a staggering 3.8 tackles on average, registering 2 interceptions, and averaging 1.9 clearances so far. Meanwhile, Rashford has bagged 14 goals in 22 matches in the division (WhoScored).

After making his international debut in 2018 under Alex McLeish, the centre-midfielder has won 12 caps for Scotland, and his current market value is estimated at £20.25m via Transfermarkt. United fans will be hoping the board can keep a hold of McTominay in the summer in light of his solid performances this campaign.
