Manchester United: Red Devils fans react to Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones transfer updates

According to The Athletic via talkSPORT, Manchester United are ready to sell Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones in the summer “if a bidder comes in.”

Lingard has reportedly lost the confidence of United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after failing to score or assist a goal in the Premier League despite making 20 appearances this season. The Red Devils academy graduate has played in over 200 games across all competitions for United, registering 31 goals and 20 assists, and winning the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup during his time at the club (Transfermarkt).

The 27-year-old was notably absent from first-team training ahead of the Europa League last 16-clash with Austrian side LASK.

On the other hand, Jones did take part in the preparations before the squad boarded the flight to Linz. However, the 28-year-old has only made 2 appearances in the Premier League all season and is clearly out-of-favour with the club legend. Jones has also made over 200 appearances for United, scoring 6 goals and providing 10 assists (Transfermarkt).

Naturally, quite a few members of the Old Trafford faithful have weighed in on the latest transfer update, with one supporter urging the club to “price them to sell. Even football has a bargain bin.”
