Lots of Manchester United fans have been discussing the news that Kalidou Koulibaly has rejected a move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to an exclusive from Le10sport.
The French outlet revealed the Naples-based defender has set his sights on the Premier League, with United facing stiff competition from derby rivals Manchester City to sign the 28-year-old in the summer.
Koulibaly has been tipped to move to Old Trafford for the past few years, and Ed Woodward has been holding talks with Napoli over the Senegal international in recent weeks (Daily Mail).
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces a mass exodus of defensive options in the upcoming transfer window, as Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are all set to leave the Theatre of Dreams before the start of next season, and it is fair to say the centre-back could be the perfect solution to plug the gap at the back.
After arriving at the Stadio San Paolo from KRC Genk in 2014 for a mere £6.98m, the Senegalese has established himself as one of the highest-rated footballers in the world, putting in a string of impressive performances for Gennaro Gattuso’s side, making 15 appearances in Serie A this season, registering 2.6 tackles per game, averaging 1.5 interceptions, and making a staggering 5.2 clearances on average in the Italian top flight (WhoScored).
All things considered, it remains to be seen if the board will be able to come to an agreement with the Blues, but there is no doubt supporters will be keeping a close eye on reports from Italy in the months to come.
Naturally, Koulibaly’s latest transfer update prompted loads of reactions from the fan base, with one supporter begging the club to “sign him up,” and another relishing the prospect of an “unreal partnership” with the likes of Harry Maguire.
