Jesse Lingard has been spotted training with former Manchester United player Ravel Morrison earlier this week, via the Daily Mail.
Lingard is making sure he is keeping his fitness levels up during the nationwide lockdown and was seen adhering to social distancing guidelines with his old teammate whilst out for a run.
The English duo played together in the Red Devils youth system at the beginning of their professional careers, although they were separated once Morrison failed to nail down a place in the first team, and eventually departed Old Trafford for West Ham United.
Ever since he left the Theatre of Dreams, the 27-year-old has become a bit of a nomad, hopping from club to club across all of the top divisions, before joining Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United on a free transfer from Swedish side Ostersunds FK last summer. He struggled to make much of an impression and was shipped out on loan to Middlesbrough in January.
In contrast, Lingard has gone on to make over 200 appearances for United, scoring 31 goals and providing 20 assists, winning the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup along the way. However, he has recently fallen out of favour with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after failing to score or assist a single goal in the Premier League all season, and is now considered surplus to requirements (Transfermarkt).
Given the responses so far, it is clear plenty of Red Devils still have a bitter taste in their mouths, as several directed their ire at the players on social media. One fan commented the photos are “one disappointment after another,” while another added they are “wasted talent.”
