Manchester United: Romelu Lukaku picks Mason Greenwood as best young player at the club

Romelu Lukaku has picked teenage sensation Mason Greenwood as Manchester United’s best young player. Predictably, plenty of fans have been fervently discussing his four word tweet.

Replying to a fan Q&A on Twitter, Lukaku named the academy graduate as United’s brightest youngster, commenting: “Greenwood that boy colddddd.”

Having been handed his first-team debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last year, Greenwood has played in 39 games for United in this season so far, scoring 14 goals and providing 1 assist in all competitions. Although most of his appearances have come from the bench, the 18-year-old has still managed to bag 5 goals in the Premier League (WhoScored).

After arriving at Old Trafford from Everton for an initial £75m, the Belgium all-time leading goalscorer netted 42 goals in 96 matches for the Red Devils, before departing for Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan last summer for £74m.

Lukaku scored twice during Greenwood’s first game in the famous jersey, when Solskjaer’s side thumped Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 in the Champions League (Metro).

Unsurprisingly, loads of supporters replied to his answer on Twitter, with several fans leaving a positive response. One even added “miss you big man.”
