The Mail on Sunday have Manchester United fans looking over to our landlord at the bar here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that the Red Devils are set to offer one of their star players a new deal.
According to the publication, come the end of the season, the club will look to activate the clause in Michael Carrick’s contract that will see him be offered a one-year extension after proving his worth to manager Louis van Gaal.
As our regulars note over a pint, it comes as no surprise that the Red Devils’ great form has tied in with the return of Carrick from injury.
Some of our regulars seem to think that the 33-year-old should be offered more than a one-year deal but as is common policy these days, someone over the age of 30 is really only going to be handed deals a rolling year on year basis.
Manchester United fans. Do you think Carrick is worth a new deal at the club? Should a 33-year-old be handed a deal lasting longer than a solitary year? Let us know your thoughts below. Let us know your thoughts below.
