Metro have a claim that Manchester United fans are turning all their attentions to here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
They claim that Wayne Rooney is set to pen a deal that will keep him at the club for life.
As one of our punters notes, there is very little for United fans to do this weekend given they are not in the FA Cup, and we have turned to the transfer rumours, as well as the top shelf spirits to keep them entertained.
The Old Trafford faithful are keen to hear just how much Rooney will be paid in this stunning new deal, and our landlord moves over from the bar to tell us that it will make the forward the highest paid player in the league.
Rooney will increase his wages by £50,000 per week – meaning that he will now take home £300,000. Staggering for anyone.
As a couple of our punters note however, they simply do not care how much the player will cost. They just want to have him tied down to a new long-term deal at the club, especially when the likes of Robin van Persie’s future is so uncertain.
