Manchester United: The idea of Paul Pogba partnering Bruno Fernandes excited a lot of fans

Share

While much of Manchester United’s display away at Club Brugge in a 1-1 Europa League draw last night was described as ‘desperate’ by The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, fans on social media were begging for a partnership they’ve not yet seen.

Indeed, with Bruno Fernandes finding his feet at the club after picking up his first assist against Chelsea on Monday night, his cameo in Belgium saw supporters dreaming about a midfield partnership between him and Paul Pogba could bring to the team.

The Frenchman – whose exit has recently been reported by the Telegraph as being ‘inevitable – is currently ramping up his return from injury (per the Sun) and, although he has played just 521 minutes of Premier League action this season, has averaged 2.3 key passes per game, via WhoScored. So, considering the lack of creativity manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has previously complained about, the idea of pairing him with someone of Fernandes’ talent looks to have excited the United faithful.

Whether or not they do get to see that remains to be seen of course given Pogba’s current situation but here’s a look at what supporters on social media were saying last night.
