It may be a crunch weekend for Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern but the Daily Mail have some really good news for the club.

Robin van Persie has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford almost repeatedly since David Moyes took over.

It had been claimed more than once that the Dutch forward was unhappy with his new manager and his style of training; injuries have even been attributed to Moyes by the Dutch national team.

However, RVP has moved to reassure Red Devils punters in the tavern that he is focused on the job in hand at Old Trafford.

As our landlord notes, the support from van Persie is invaluable at a time when pressure is building on the manager.

The former Arsenal forward noted: “Moyes needs time, he’s new. The manager is our leading man and he will change things around. We lost too many points this year, but we are doing everything we can to change that.”

He also spoke about the fact that Wayne Rooney was a major factor in his happiness at the club and lavished praise on his strike partner.

“We realise that we are stronger when we are playing together, as a partnership,’ the Dutchman claimed.

“You are always stronger, in any sport, in life, when you are doing stuff together. With a player of Wayne’s calibre, we can go from strength to strength, and we can become even better.

“One game he will score a couple, the next game I will score a couple. It is important that this partnership is becoming even stronger.”
