Amid continuing transfer speculation surrounding several players possibly joining Manchester United, the Red Devils have been given an ultimatum regarding one of their transfer targets.
According to Het Parool (via TEAMtalk) if the Red Devils want to sign Donny van de Beek, then they will have to secure a deal for him by September 13 as Ajax want their business sorted before the Eredivisie season starts.
It has been reported in the past that the Dutch international, who has a price tag of around €50m (£45m), is one that that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would love to have in his midfield alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.
The 23-year-old had a very good season in 2019/20 as he managed 10 goals and 11 assists in all competitions whilst averaging 1.9 shots, 1.8 key passes and two tackles a game, per WhoScored, and this shows that he can make an impact throughout the pitch.
In total he has played 175 times for Ajax and scored 41 goals as well as providing 34 assists, per Transfermarkt.
Van de Beek’s statistics suggest that he is a well-rounded midfielder and he was part of the Ajax side that reached the Champions League semi-finals in the 2018/19 season.
All-in-all, the midfielder seems like he would be a good asset for United, and if they could acquire him it would further strengthen a midfield which already contains the heralded Pogba and Fernandes partnership.
