Manchester Evening News have managed to get Manchester United fans looking up open mouthed here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that the club were close to a deal for Thomas Muller this summer.
This is according to Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who claimed that if Bayern and Muller were only interested in money, the player would have joined Manchester United.
Now as one of our punters notes over a couple of pints, it doesn’t really come as a shock that United made a huge bid for the striker, considering how talented the player is and how desperate Louis van Gaal was for a forward, but we think the player did the right thing to stay where he was and will have far more success with the German club.
