Crystal Palace will be eager to return from their visit to Goodison Park this lunchtime with three points in the bag but they have been dealt a setback prior to kick-off.
Roy Hodgson has had a difficult few weeks in terms of a lack of new signings but perhaps more troublesome is the injuries to a host of players, such as Jeffrey Schlupp and Mamadou Sakho. While Palace have faltered in front of goal this term with 22 goals in 25 league goals they have been very resolute defensively for the most part, conceding just 29 goals in the league.
A key reason for that has been the form of Martin Kelly, who has averaged 1.2 tackles and 3.9 clearances per game this campaign, per WhoScored, and has been ever-present for Hodgson with 17 starts.
However, he is now set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a calf strain, and some fans are understandably frustrated that another player has joined the injury list ahead of today’s clash at Everton.
Here are some of the responses to the news.
Good job Ward’s red card was overturned. Who would have played right back?
