Mason Mount to miss most of this month

Derby County will be gutted with yesterday’s result as they failed to secure all three points against Preston North End, with Bristol City’s win earlier on today taking them above the Rams.

The Rams can’t afford many more slip-ups if they are to stand any chance of securing a play-off spot in the current campaign, with a number of sides all fighting for a limited amount of positions.

Sadly, the Midlands club suffered a huge setback recently, as according to Derby Telegraph, Frank Lampard has stated that Mason Mount will be out for a few weeks.

Indeed, Derby County are set to be without Mount for much of this month.

The Englishman limped off during the FA Cup fourth-round victory over Accrington Stanley a week ago and he failed to feature against Preston North End last night.

Here’s what Frank Lampard had to say:

“Mason will be a while, he will be a few weeks,”

“It’s a small hamstring strain, so we’ll have to see how we go but he won’t be back in the near future,”

“We’re talking weeks, unfortunately – probably another three weeks, maybe, which is a shame because games are starting to come thick and fast from next weekend onwards.”

THE VERDICT:

It’s safe to say that the Rams wouldn’t find themselves in the position they’re currently in without Mason Mount’s efforts this season, as he’s been a crucial part of their midfield and attacking play.

Mount, who is valued at £3.6 million (by Transfermarkt), is one of the most talented players at Pride Park and he would have been influential in what is a busy part of the Rams’ season, so his absence will come as a huge blow.
