Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are rolling their eyes in disbelief as Metro seems to think that the Reds are set to face a fight to keep hold of Jordan Henderson.
The midfielder has been simply sensational and it seems that the stand in skipper will not be penning the new £80,000 per week contract that has been offered to him – and we are fairly surprised that is the case.
As one of our punters notes over a pint, despite reported interest from Barcelona, we do not think Henderson actually has any intention of leaving the Merseyside club and is probably just holding out for a few more thousand pounds a week and considering his contribution to the side – not to mention the fact that he is set to take the captain’s armband from Steven Gerrard, we do not blame him!
