Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph was hailed as the best in his position in the Championship by his manager Jonathan Woodgate after the 1-0 win at Reading on Saturday, as reported by Teesside Live.
The Republic of Ireland international has now started 101 consecutive league games for ‘Boro, reaching the century against Bristol City at the end of August, and Teesside Live writer Dominic Shaw named him among the best signings the club have made in the last 10 years.

Randolph made no fewer than seven saves against Reading (via WhoScored) last weekend, with Middlesbrough defender Ryan Shotton subsequently telling Teesside Live: “Everybody was kissing Darren on the head in the changing room after the final whistle because we know how important he is.”
The goalkeeper has made 105 appearances in total for ‘Boro, conceding just 98 goals (0.93 per game) and keeping 39 clean sheets (37.14% of appearances), while Woodgate’s claims about him being the best goalkeeper in the division have the added weight of him being named in the Championship Team of the Season for 2018/19.
These Middlesbrough fans on Twitter believe that Randolph can be considered in the same breath as Stephen Pears, who played 410 times for the club, and 2004 League Cup winner Mark Schwarzer.
