The eagerly-anticipated top of the table Championship clash between Middlesbrough and Leeds United at Elland Road ended in a 0-0 draw last night.
Marcelo Bielsa’s free-scoring team and Tony Pulis’ sturdy side cancelled each other out much to the disappointment of neutrals.
As expected, Leeds saw most of the possession, but it was not enough to cause Middlesbrough any real damage with Pulis’ pragmatic approach to the game, as it often does for the Welshman, resulting in the job getting done.
With that being said, Middlesbrough did have their chances to score with £10.8m-rated (via Transfermarkt) striker Britt Assombalonga heading the ball well over the cross bar from a corner after initially picking up a good position in the box.
Assombalonga’s overall performance up front, though, was still decent given how much possession of the ball Middlesbrough saw, and the 25-year-old is likely to play a big role in the club’s promotion push this season.
Have a look at what Middlesbrough supporters are saying about Assombalonga’s performance below…
Some shift tonight.

Top job last night – never stopped running for the team. There won’t be many tougher games this season – the goals will come.

You have had to adapt your own game to fit in with TP tactics. Instead of playing off the last man your now holding the ball up and bringing others into play. Once you combine both parts of your game you will be untouchable in this league and more than a handful in the prem #UTB
