teenager Christian Eriksen has been the subject of much interest this summer, much of which was coming from Liverpool.
His impressive performances for club Ajax, and internationally with Denmark, have not gone unnoticed by Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish. Although unsuccessful in an attempt to lure the youngster to Anfield earlier this summer, Dalglish is determined to continue his pursuit of the playmaker in the January transfer window.
Named the ‘Dutch Football Talent of the Year’ for his performances last season, Eriksen is certainly well on his way to becoming one of the hottest properties in world football.
Add to this the time he has spent in the prestigious Ajax academy since his move from OB, and you have a player who is not only exceptionally skilled, but who reads and understand the game better than most.
His meteoric rise has been recognised on the international level too, with Eriksen being the youngest player selected for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, as well as picking up a Man of the Match award during Denmark’s 2-1 loss to England in a friendly back in February of this year.
Whilst Liverpool’s interest in Eriksen may have cooled as the summer progressed, the reported interest from AC Milan, as well as the clearout of dead wood from the club at the end of the transfer window, have both sparked a revival in their interest.
Despite the player previously claiming he would only leave Ajax for Barcelona, English media talkSPORT have stated that both Liverpool and Milan are ready to go head-to-head with each other in January to secure the 19-year old’s signature, a race which may very easily escalate into an expensive bidding war.
