Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to raise spirits amid a disappointing season by looking back at more enjoyable times for the Birmingham-based club.
The Villans have struggled to adapt to life in the Championship and although the appointment of Steve Bruce initially provided an uplift in results, his side are now 15th in the table – more concerned with avoiding a late relegation scrap than pushing for a playoff spot.
But former star Andreas Weimann, who left for Derby County in summer 2015 and is now plying his trade on loan at Wolves, has provided some respite from all the gloom today by celebrating the anniversary of his first goal for the club on Twitter.

That came in March 2012, when the Austrian forward was introduced from the bench and provided a 92nd minute winner in a 1-0 victory over Fulham in the Premier League. Weimann was quick to point out the five-year anniversary, and in turn, Villa fans were quick to point out just how fond they are of their former star…
@andiweimann Best kneed, shinned, headed goal I ever saw.
