The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been getting worried over a story in The Sun today that claims the club could be set to sign Josh King from Bournemouth in a deal that would see Matt Ritchie go the other way.

This news is more than just a bit worrying for the Magpies. The fans all love Matt Ritchie and with the Scotsman, you know what you’re going to get every time he takes to the pitch. Ritchie never fails to give less than 100% for the Newcastle cause and he epitomises what the fans expect from a player of any ability. Whilst the fans don’t want to see him leave, they are also very keen for the club to bring Josh King to St James Park.
Matt Ritchie left Bournemouth two years ago to sign for Newcastle, dropping into the Championship with the Geordies despite being an established Premier League player at Dean Court. Two years on and Ritchie has won promotion to the Premier League with his new club and achieved a 10th place finish with the Magpies in his first season in the top-flight with the club, however, that could all be coming to an end now as talks are on-going that could see him used as a makeweight in a deal for a clinical striker.
