Mourinho must be considering a January swoop for these 2 SPFL stars

Manchester United have one of the strongest squads in the Premier League with a whole host of players who can play a number of positions.

Despite that, it hasn’t been a season new manager Jose Mourinho will have enjoyed so far.

In footballing terms, United have had their struggles as they currently sit sixth in the Premier League, eight points off main rivals and leaders Liverpool.

It’s still early doors in the Premier League race but the Portuguese will be aware that a lot more work has to be done if the Red Devils want to be challenging for the major honours come the end of the season.

If they are to be serious about their chances Mourinho must be considering a swoop for these TWO Scottish Premier League stars.

Kieran Tierney

Since Gary Neville’s retirement in 2011, Manchester United have come close to replacing him many times but have yet to find the perfect long-term solution.

It appeared for a long time that the solution would be Brazilian full-back Rafael Da Silva who performed well for the Red Devils for a couple of seasons before regressing under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, before being shipped out to Lyon.

Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia have been the most recent attempts to resolve their right-back troubles but neither of them has been faultless.

Valencia certainly seems to be the first choice but at 31-years-old, he might not be able to bomb up and down the wings for much longer.

Tierney, on the other hand, is a fresh-faced full-back and at 19-years-old he has a lot to give in his career.

He has scored one goal in his 52 appearances for Celtic but is known for his defensive solidarity and ability to help the attack with his assists.

This season alone he has assisted four goals in his eight league appearances which is an astonishing record for a full-back. He’s certainly one to look at.

Barrie McKay

United have an abundance of players who can play on the wings but Mourinho doesn’t appear to be thrilled with his options.

At the moment Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford are the popular choices for the wingers but if Rashford was given a deserved run of games up front, United could be on the lookout for some options.

McKay is one of those potential options.

The Scotsman knows all about battling and was released from Kilmarnock due to a problem which their medical staff feared would cause him long-term problems.

It was no issue for McKay though who has since joined Rangers and blossomed at Ibrox.

At only 21-years-old there’s plenty more to come of him, but if he can replicate moments of genius such as his goal in the Scottish Cup against Celtic last season then he could really go somewhere.
