Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are still buzzing with the signature of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea.

Many of our punters couldn’t believe Chelsea let Matic go, especially to a major rival but, nevertheless United haven’t looked back since. Indeed, Jose Mourinho likes to play people who he trusts, our landlord believes it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Portuguese to go back to Stamford Bridge to poach further players from his recent title-winning side.

Antonio Conte has rubbed a couple of the Chelsea boys up the wrong way, Diego Costa being the prime example as the Spaniard has now been shown the exit door.

With that in mind, our barman believes Mourinho is keeping close tabs on proceedings at the Bridge and readying some bids this January to aid his latest title challenge. Indeed, our regulars think these former players could soon follow the Matic on the move to Old Trafford…

David Luiz

The Brazilian has fallen out of favour with the current Chelsea boss Conte and reports say it was down to the fact that Luiz questioned Conte’s tactics before the United match.

Surely, Mourinho would be eager to hook back up with the attacking defender as he could see how much of an addition to the current squad he would be, especially with the slow progress of Victor Lindelof.

Willian

Fellow Brazilian Willian would fit Mourinho’s current system, such is his hard-working style of play up and down the flanks.

The winger has received a little criticism from his own fans this season for some under-par performances, which is strange to think, considering his form during the otherwise awful 2015/16 campaign. A reunion with his former boss would bring out the best again in him, as well give United another goal threat from wide areas.

Willian would be a good fit into the United side and would offer a little something different down the right to former teammate, Juan Mata.
