The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern believe Jose Mourinho has assembled their best squad since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, one that’s finally capable of winning the Premier League title.
Indeed, our resident Red Devils are delighted to look up and down the squad list with pride, even when it comes to Ashley Young.
The 32-year-old hasn’t always convinced our United-mad punters, though has always done a job when called upon by Mourinho and seems to be able to operate in a number of different position these days.
So, reports from the Sun suggesting he’s hoping for an extended stay at the club have actually gone down rather well.
They claim the former England international is keen to sit down with the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ in an effort to remain a United player. Out of contract next summer, the club do have an option to activate a 12-month extension on his deal, something Young is reportedly likely to ask for.
Mourinho is expected to tell the former Watford and Aston Villa man he can leave the club and that he’ll only be used as a squad player, something seemingly unlikely to bother Young.
Strong cover in a number of positions, our United fans would be ok with him staying.

Young’s time at United may not have been overly exciting of late, though he did prove helpful during United’s busy run of games last season.
