The punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been intently watching Jose Mourinho’s first season at Manchester United.
They feel that despite the money he spent in the summer, more acquisitions are needed in the January transfer window.
They have been thinking about where to look, after the signings of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba and feel that they could possibly look to Africa to help their side.
The fasting growing continent in football is getting a lot more players into the Premier League and is showing some real talent.
The Tavern’s punters have recognised one old face and a star of last season as two players that could help the United midfield.
With that in mind, our landlord has listened in and highlights why Manchester United should sign these TWO African midfielders in January.
Do you agree with these picks and who do you think Manchester United should sign going into 2017? Let us know.
Franck Kessie
Manchester United have signed some of the world’s biggest names this season.
However, it could be an idea for them to sign Franck Kessie and turn him into a massive name.
Kessie is a 19-year-old Ivorian midfielder who has already represented his country four times.
He currently plays for Atalanta so could be tempted by the status of Manchester United and Old Trafford and if he can fulfil his potential, he could become a fans’ favourite.
Riyad Mahrez

He may not have replicated last year’s form in the Premier League this season, but Riyad Mahrez has shown in the Champions League that he is still a very dangerous player.
If the Red Devils signed him, he would fit in well and help Mourinho that his side plays fast and exciting football, rather than reverting to the type of game that was played under Louis van Gaal.
He would be able to link up well with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, while also having the ability to go alone.
On paper, Mahrez is the type of player that would excite the Old Trafford faithful.
