With the Red Devils facing participation in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League our resident United fans are hopeful that some of the club’s younger talents will be entrusted with first-team responsibilities.
Despite only winning one major trophy, Louis Van Gaal was lauded for his use of young talents. The experienced Dutchman displayed great faith and reliance on the club’s young starlets in times of need and was subsequently praised for using his young stars.

Axel Tuanzebe
The 19-year-old’s qualities are already well known to manager Jose Mourinho. Having featured five times for United last season, many consider this season to be crucial for Tuanzebe’s development.
The Englishman’s key attribute is his versatility. In only five senior appearances for Manchester United, the teenager has operated as a right-back, a defensive midfielder and a central midfielder. In a season congested with fixtures, his ability to perform in numerous positions could be of considerable benefit to the Red Devils. Given sufficient playing time, the defender could thrive and become one of United’s most prestigious academy graduates.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah
Having illustrated his qualities during Van Gaal’s last season as United boss, the Dutchman continued his progression by making 11 appearances for Manchester United last campaign. Mensah is yet another United prospect renowned for his versatility having played as a right-back, a midfielder and a number 10 for United’s youth teams, albeit it’s clear for all to see that his best position is at right-back.
The Dutchman is regarded for his pace and superb ability to retrieve possession. His performances at United have developed into recognition from his country the Netherlands as the 19-year-old was called up for international friendlies against the Republic of Ireland, Austria and Poland. The former Ajax defender has already amassed several appearances for Holland at various youth levels and is primed to become United’s next star who has progressed from the academy.
