Yesterday saw Newcastle United travel to Selhurst Park to take on a tough Crystal Palace side who were fresh off the back of their second win of the season away at Huddersfield. However, the Geordies were looking forward to it after seeing their starting eleven and it seems most fans wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Newcastle had gone into their game against Arsenal the week before without the likes of Salomon Rondon and Jonjo Shelvey and to see both of those starting was a dream for the fans. Kenedy also returned and the Magpies were delighted with the fact that Rafa Benitez seemed to be setting up an attacking side to go and take the game to The Eagles as they looked for their first win of the season.
As it was, The Magpies drew 0-0, doubling their points tally for the season, and ending the game without ever really looking like they were going to win it. That being said, it’s something to build on for The Geordies who will be keen to see the same eleven be put out against the likes of Leicester City and Manchester United in their next two fixtures as they continue to chase their first three points of the season.

The Magpies didn’t get the result they wanted but the starting eleven was spot on and they’ll be keen to see more of that from Benitez.
