Newcastle’s official twitter account is very rarely the bearer of good news and today the tweet that the fans have seen has left them fuming. The Magpies tweeted, with a link to the Newcastle website, that striker Salomon Rondon would miss this weekend’s clash with Leicester City with a thigh injury and the supporters are livid.

The Venezuelan striker was taken off at halftime last weekend during the 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park and now it seems that the thigh problem he suffered was more serious than they thought. Rondon will be absent for the clash at St James Park with Leicester, meaning that the club’s only other out-and-out number nine, Joselu will have to play against Claude Puel’s Foxes.
The fans are already questioning why the club signed Rondon and comparisons are being drawn to Islam Slimani, who was signed on-loan from Leicester last January and failed to score a single goal in his time at the club before being sent back to The King Power Stadium after his abysmal spell on Tyneside. The Geordies will hope that Rondon’s time at the club isn’t quite as bad as Slimani’s but so far he’s made a shocking start.
You can read The Magpies’ verdict on Rondon’s injury blow here:
Pointless signing just like Slimani was. Imagine getting rid of Gayle and Mitrovic who are clearly goalscorers. Anyone disputes Gayle clearly needs to remember the fact he came up with some important goals to keep the club up.

Our loans strikers are cursed? First, Slimani. Now, Rondon. And we keep seeing Joselu in the team, my god!!

Selling Mitrovic was a suicidal sale. Coming back to hurt us with each passing day.

The Geordies are fuming with the Rondon blow and will be hoping they can still get a result against Leicester by some miracle.
