Many Newcastle United fans have slammed the asking price for former Liverpool player Philippe Coutinho as Mundo Deportivo (via NUFC 360) claim that FC Barcelona are said to want 100 million euros for him.
As per the tweet, the proposed owners at St. James’ Park would like to sign Coutinho if the prospective takeover goes through. The Saudi-led consortium, backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and spearheaded by businesswoman Amanda Staveley, will perhaps be looking for a statement addition if their bid goes through, and the ex-Anfield ace could fit the bill.

Coutinho made 201 appearances in all competitions for the Reds, scoring 54 goals and providing 45 assists, according to Transfermarkt. With a goal or an assist in every other game, these are relatively impressive statistics for an attacking midfield player.
Indeed, the 27-year old has since moved to Spain and is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, but he could make a return to the Premier League if the potential new owners are willing to pay his asking price.

100? he’s not worth it especially in this current climate

With the current conditions no player would now be worth £100mil imo unless it was Messi. Cousin hi is certainly not worth that price tag and I won’t be surprised if the Takeover happens this will be the norm given our financial backing.
