Steve Bruce has given some injury news on five Newcastle United players ahead of their Premier League home game against Brighton and Hove Albion at St. James’ Park.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference (via a tweet from the Tyneside club), the manager of the Magpies confirmed:
“It’s still a bit too early for Dummett, [Matty] Longstaff, Schär and Dubravka. Everybody else seems to be OK and we have a clean bill of health from the other night. Allan Saint Maximin is fine.”

Indeed, while it is a bit of a blow to be without the likes of Dummett, Longstaff, Schar and Dubravka in the squad, it will surely come as a much-welcome boost several members of the Toon Army that Saint-Maximin is okay to play a part.

After an injury scare in the 1-0 Carabao Cup win versus EFL Championship club Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup second round, with Ryan Fraser grabbing the winner on his debut, it seems as if the 23-year old will certainly be able to play against the Seagulls and hopefully replicate the rather impressive form he showed in the 2019/20 Premier League term.
Indeed, Saint-Maximin scored three goals and made a further four assists in 26 matches, while also averaging 1.8 shots, 1.3 key passes and 4.7 dribbles per game, according to Whoscored.

The French winger will surely be hoping to better those stats in the 2020/21 season, especially with the added attacking edge following the arrivals of new signings Fraser and Callum Wilson surrounding him.
Nonetheless, while it is a bit of a blow to still have four senior players out injured and therefore unavailable for the game, the added boost of Saint-Maximin being fit and ready to play should give NUFC a welcome boost as they look to take all three points.
