The Daily Mirror have Manchester United fans looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern after making the claim that every single Manchester United player is fighting for their future.
That is according to Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal who has made no secret of the fact that he expects the very best standards from his players.
Since arriving after the ill-fated reign of David Moyes, the Dutchman has gone out of his way to make it clear that there are no favourites, young players will be given a chance and no one is too good to be dropped.
The Manchester United boss laid down the gauntlet and claimed: “I think all of them are playing for their future and all of them are aware of that. They know they have to perform. Not just in the matches, but also on the training pitch.’
As one of our punters notes, we think this is a nice statement in theory but in reality, there will be players who do not perform at their best week in week out and ones who even have poor seasons but it does not mean they should be axed from a squad.
However, we cannot escape the fact that there are a fair few players who did need to improve and they have either done so as in the case of Marouane Fellaini, or been axed such as Anderson.
