‘Not bad for a club apparently skint’ – Rangers fans thrilled with promising transfer report

The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are all delighted to see that, according to Sky Sports News, Steven Gerrard has agreed on a £2 million fee with Slaven Belupo for young Croatian defender, Nikola Katic. The 21-year-old central defender has made 36 appearances at club level this season, scoring once and providing three assists in that time.

Katic could prove to be a huge hit in Glasgow and will be hoping to repay the faith that Gerrard has put in him as the Scouse legend prepares to part with a sizeable fee for £2 million for the young defender. However, it could all be worth it if the Gers can take their first steps on the way to usurping Celtic as Scottish football’s most dominant side, although that looks a long way away as the Hoops are fresh off the back of Scottish football’s first-ever double-treble.

Ex-Liverpool and England captain, Gerrard has been looking to rebuild the Ibrox club with very minimal transfer funds and the money being shelled out on the young Katic has come as a pleasant surprise to many Rangers fans and as a big shock to the Bhoys. The club will need to have a water-tight defence if they’re to keep their Old Firm rivals at bay when face this season, as Brendan Rodgers’ side recorded comfortable four and five-nil wins over the Bluenoses when they last faced.

The majority of Rangers fans won’t have heard of the name Nikola Katic, although that won’t stop them from getting behind the youngster if he does make an Ibrox switch to play under Steven Gerrard.
