Manchester United’s one hundred per cent win record in their pre-season tour of the United States has left an optimistic vibe in the Transfer Tavern for supporters of the Red Devils.

That was then followed by a convincing 2-1 triumph against Real Salt Lake where the Belgian striker bagged his first goal for Manchester United, putting in a convincing shift for fans to look ahead.

Manchester United’s star signing this summer will make his first competitive appearance for the club, or is assumed to be, against the Hammers and this is something the fans-by-the-bar are highly anticipating.

Not only is the Transfer Tavern awaiting to see how Romelu Lukaku will perform in a red shirt, but how he’ll link-up with record-arrival Paul Pogba who we desperately want to be plying his trade further up field.

We have seen the two form a close bond over in America and if that translates onto the pitch in the Premier League then we can definitely look forward to seeing this partnership work with Pogba, in a slightly more attacking frame compared to last term.

Is Marcus Rashford set for a more pivotal role?

Marcus Rashford is undoubtedly the most talented youth prospect to graduate from Manchester United’s infamous academy in the last few years, and this opening match at home to West Ham could decide if he’s a major part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.

The 19-year-old has excited everyone in the Football Transfer Tavern and his two goals against LA Galaxy may just indicate that the manager is keen to utilise the England international more often than his frustrating spell on the bench for much of last year.

Our United-supporting bar man wants to see Rashford tear the Premier League apart from a striker role, but this may not be the case with Romelu Lukaku’s high-profile addition – his place in this West Ham outing is sure to be something to watch out for.
