Despite having managed to grind out a 1-0 victory against Wigan Athletic on Sunday afternoon, many Nottingham Forest fans were left far from impressed with the performance of Alfa Semedo in the middle of the park.
Sabri Lamouchi’s side jumped up to fifth in the Championship standings with the three points after Tobias Figueiredo netted just prior to the hour-mark in what turned out to be a rather lacklustre game of football at the City Ground.
Whilst there would have been some delight that the Tricky Trees were able to get all three points and head into the New Year currently occupying a play-off position, there were many of the club’s faithful that were not pleased with what they saw from the on-loan Benfica midfielder.
A number of supporters could not understand why Semedo had stayed on the pitch for the entire game, whilst others hope Lamouchi does not decide to play him further forward ever again in a role that some didn’t feel suited the 22-year-old.
However, when looking at the data collected by WhoScored, it might be a tad harsh to criticise his performance. The midfielder managed one shot, one key pass, made four tackles, one interception and three clearances.
But, it would seem these fans are a little harder to be impressed going by their reactions…
Semedo, Yates, Chema can be added to that list. All poor. We do have other choices. Play Sow and Silva when fit. Carvalho at number 10. Cash and Lolley either side of Grabban and press high and force mistakes. When we did that today, we looked better but can’t let bottom dictate

Semedo needs to stop running on sludge.#nffc

I don’t want Semedo in the team at all. What does he offer?

Imo Only Samba was decent, Cash, Figueredo, Worrall & Grabban were OK. Carvalho, Watson, Semedo were poor & Ameobi, Yates were very very poor. And Chema was shocking. #nffc

How Semedo stayed on instead of Carvalho I have no idea. Absolute liability all game. Carvalho really needs a spell in the number 10 role. We might actually create some chances, rather than relying on set pieces. #NFFC

Feel very sheepish walking away with three points today. That was so, so poor. Problems started and ended in midfield, lost every battle and second to every ball from start to finish. Yates and Semedo complete passengers. Mentality and system at home needs to change. #nffc

Remember when Semedo looked decent……that was a long time ago #nffc
