Nottingham Forest have launched another bid to sign Brentford ace Yoanne Wissa. Brentford have rejected the bid – the value is undisclosed – but the two clubs remain in discussion.
Sky Sports has reported that Forest have a long-term interest in the player, having bid for him in previous windows. In January they had a £22m bid for the player rejected by the Bees, and are now set to test their resolve once more.
Forest are reeling from the loss of Anthony Elanga who joined Newcastle this summer, and the potential loss of Morgan Gibbs-White who has controversially agreed to join Tottenham despite reportedly not being granted permission by Forest. Details of that deal are still developing.
Wissa could be the remedy for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side should they lose another key man. The 28 year old scored 20 goals for Brentford in all competitions last season, 19 in the Premier League.
He also provided four assists as he formed a deadly partnership with Bryan Mbeumo. The latter is currently the subject of talks between Brentford and Manchester United, and Brentford would find it difficult to part ways with both of their key men in the same window.
Wissa signed for Brentford from Lorient in 2021 for just £7.2m and has one year left on his contract. Four years on and Brentford are said to be seeking over £50m for the versatile forward. Brentford’s current record sale is the £40m they got for Ivan Toney last summer.
Wissa could be on the move this summer

TalkSport has reported that Wissa is pushing for a move away from Brentford this summer, with the player also attracting interest from Tottenham. The Congo international is reportedly keen to reunite with former boss Thomas Frank.
Newcastle are another club keeping tabs on the player after losing veteran striker Callum Wilson following his contract expiry. Wissa has seen his stock rise in his four seasons in the Premier League.
He became the key man alongside Mbeumo following Ivan Toney’s departure from the club, and is coming off his best ever goalscoring campaign. Brentford are now bracing themselves for an exodus, having already lost manager Thomas Frank, skipper Christian Norgaard, and first choice goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
Should they lose Wissa and Mbeumo as well, new manager Keith Andrews will have his work cut out for him in reshaping the squad. The Bees have signed replacements for two of their outgoing stars already, signing former Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson to replace Norgaard, and another former Liverpool player in goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to replace Flekken.
The club has also signed midfielder Antoni Milambo from Feyenoord for £17m.
