The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern bemoaned a defensive error and a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal today.
Liverpool drew 1-1 with Newcastle United at St James’ Park as they once again faltered in their quest for domestic success this season.
The Reds went ahead in the first half as Philippe Coutinho smashed in a wonderful long range effort which left Rob Elliot with no chance in the Newcastle goal.
However, shortly afterwards, Newcastle were back level.
Jonjo Shelvey slipped a through ball between Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren which Joselu ran onto.
Although the Spaniard waited too long to take his shot, Matip’s tackle rebounded off Joselu’s shin and dribbled into the back of the net.
For Liverpool fans, it was yet another disappointing result.
They now go into the international break in 7th place – below Burnley!
