Not so long ago the notion of Wayne Rooney heading to West Ham from Manchester United would have been deemed impossible, but this is indeed the latest rumour doing the rounds here in the Transfer Tavern.
Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol has revealed that the Hammers are keen on the England skipper and could launch a move for him should he be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer, which is reportedly a strong possibility.
West Ham interested in signing Wayne Rooney if Manchester United allow him to leave this summer. Told “Never say never”

West Ham’s need for a striker is well known. Before the start of the current season the Londoners made desperate attempts to snap up a number of centre-forwards before being forced to settle for a loan deal for Simone Zaza – who was dumped in January – and with Michail Antonio their top scorer, it’s clear this area still needs addressing.
So, West Ham fans will be thrilled with the Rooney links, right? Well, quite a few on Twitter are not exactly excited about the prospect of the Man United hero rocking up at the London Stadium…
Our owners are the definition of deluded if they think signing Rooney is a) a good decision or b) he’d ever join West Ham

Rooney is the last person we need, too slow, cant play striker anymore we already have a complete lack of pace in the side. We need pace

‘We offered Wayne £30k-a-week but he turned it down. At least we tried. We have faith our current strikers are good enough’#WHUFC

Rooney is a big enough ‘name’ for the owners to use for season tickets. 100% won’t happen, would bet my house on it.

Signing Wayne Rooney would make me send my season ticket back not renew it.

Rooney not in the England team. West ham are interested. Coincidence? I think not

Surely the “West Ham to chase Rooney” stories aren’t true. Surely. Someone convince me. Please.

@davidgold I hope Rooney rumours are nonsense. Need players in early to mid 20’s hungry to become stars that the fans can call their own.

Rooney is on around 300k a week at Man Utd! Would like him at West Ham but we have nothing to attract him. Wouldn’t pay those wages either!

Fast forward to the end of the window: “Rooney didn’t want to join, but we have signed a striker from Aruba on a season long loan”.

Rooney another one of the boards Big names to keep us interested…they must think we are stupid just when season tickets renewals are here
