After Rangers announced the signing of England veteran Jermain Defoe recently, we discussed what that meant for the Scottish giants.
The Gers have been in need of a natural goalscorer this season, and have only scored six goals in their last eight games. Defoe is a natural finisher, and should do Alfredo Morelos the world of good being alongside him.
However, at the age of 36, Defoe is only a short-term option for Rangers, where they may only benefit this season.

Despite his pedigree in the Premier League, more than twice the number of fans would like to see a long-term arrival at Ibrox over Defoe. Perhaps the fans are aware that in order for Rangers to break bitter rivals Celtic’s dominance of Scottish football they will need to secure a player for years to com, and Defoe is not that man.
