Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that following Arsene Wenger’s decision to leave at the end of the season, it will kick off a Gunners revolution with two of their players already linked to moves away.

The majority of our regulars think that Ivan Gazidis needs to make a huge call this summer in regards to the Gunners’ future. Indeed, following the news that long-term manager Wenger is to cut short his two-year extension this summer after running Arsenal with an iron fist over the decades, Gazidis has two players on his hands at least that have simply not made the grade at the Emirates so far.

Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi are two players that have not impressed our regulars much during their time in north London – and Arsenal are set to use them as the starting point for the summer overhaul of the club.

In this summer transfer window, Arsenal should be looking at replacing the possible departures of some quality first team players and offloading the passengers they’ve been carrying for the past few seasons.

The Gunners boss should take this opportunity to ship out a couple more players, according to our landlord. Now, between him the bar staff on the afternoon shift, they’ve compiled a list of potential outgoings of the Emirates door to follow Xhaka and Mustafi…

David Ospina

Arsenal need two new ‘keepers, with Petr Cech’s age is catching up with him and it’s starting to show, while his back up David Ospina is a few levels short of what the club needs. The Gunners should start to build from the back in the summer, and a revamp of the keeper and backline is in much need of attention.

There are plenty of problems in the team that could have made this list that landlord could mention, but the smart money is on building from the back.

Danny Welbeck

Danny Welbeck came to Arsenal with a fresh outlook and a new start to his footballing career after stalling at Manchester United despite a good start. However, over the years through bad form and injuries, the England man has lost his way in the Big Smoke, despite a recent resurgence.

Indeed, he seems a shadow of his former self and a move away to a lesser club may be a smart move. If Welbeck wants to get back to his best and re-discover his form, the Emirates is not the place to do this – especially in light of recent signings in the January window and possible overhaul of the club in the coming months.
