Crystal Palace: Fans react as Steve Parish denies that Eagles have made an offer for Brewster

It looked like Crystal Palace were making a big move for Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster as Sky Sports reported that they had made a £19m bid plus £6m in add-ons, but Eagles chairman Steve Parish has come out and suggested that this is not the case.

Many Palace fans have reacted to the tweet that Parish has written in reply to the reported news by Sky Sports as he said: ‘We have asked Sky to take this down as it is a total fabrication from start to finish. We have not made a bid formal or informal.’

It is good for Parish to come out and deny the report in order to let Eagles fans know where the matter stands, as otherwise he could have faced a lot of criticism if the deal doesn’t come off.

Brewster, who has also been linked with Sheffield United, excelled on loan for Swansea City last season, making 22 appearances for the Championship side and scoring 11 goals, whilst averaging 2.4 shots on target per game, via WhoScored. He definitely has the potential to succeed but, for now, all those associated with the Eagles will hope that the club are still making movements in the transfer window.

Here is what these Crystal Palace fans said following Parish’ clarification about the Brewster transfer rumours:

We have asked Sky to take this down
as it is a total fabrication from start to finish.

We have not made a bid formal or informal. https://t.co/uIusuAsDcW

Wow. I mean I’m not surprised but wow

— Elliøtt (@wakefieldviking) September 21, 2020

Well done Steve, running this club properly 👏

Yes @CEO4TAG ! So refreshing to see the bosses putting them in their place! Although I do like Brewster and wouldn’t mind seeing him in a Palace shirt 😏

For him to call them out, makes me think we’re close with another player and doesn’t want this rocking the boat

Well done for taking them to task, Steve. But I’m disappointed you haven’t made a bid.
