Crystal Palace have had a pretty good start to this season’s Premier League campaign, and the Eagles fans in the Transfer Tavern sure are happy about it too!
Under Alan Pardew, Palace seem a strong and industrious unit that might be capable of pushing for one of the Europa League spots – if they can maintain their good form.
They sit eighth going into the international break and I’m sure most Palace supporters would have taken that come the start of the season. They made some big-money moves in the transfer window and despite losing Loic Remy to injury – they’ve bounced back, and it doesn’t seem like they’ll be fighting relegation come the end of the season.
So after so a healthy start, what should Pardew do when it comes to team selection? Three wins, two draws and two defeats is decent enough form, but should he change it up just a little, based on what we’ve already seen?
With that in mind, we think Pardew must start these 3 players in every game from now on…
Christian Benteke
We were under the assumption that when Christian Benteke joined the club this summer, he would be an integral part of this Palace side – and we weren’t wrong in the slightest.
The front-man was absolutely superb against Everton, and his man-of-the-match performance suggested that he knows he’s got a big point to prove as the season progresses.
He’ll bring pace, power and goals to the Palace forward line, and as the season goes along he’ll keep getting better and better.
Surely he’ll start each game here on in, even when Remy does return from injury.
Yohan Cabaye
Cabaye came on as a late second-half substitute in the game against the Toffees, in a game some Palace fans thought he should have been involved in from the start.
They could be right too, the Frenchman really does add a touch of quality to this Palace midfield and his range of passing is a real asset to this team.
When he and Benteke are both in-form and on the top of their games – it could make for really exciting viewing.
Andros Townsend
A late selection into the England squad due to Raheem Sterling’s injury would have done Townsend’s confidence no harm – and we’re hoping this call-up could push him to improve his domestic form even more too.
He’s got a point to prove after jumping ship from Newcastle, but the early signs this season have been promising.
He’s quick, direct and plays with real aggression, getting at defenders to create opportunities for his forwards.
Tough to see the likes of Chung Yong-Lee starting games when Townsend is in such good form.
