Jermain Defoe has had more football clubs than many have had hot dinners, so the now 34-year-old has a long list of ex-fans to call upon and it seems as though Tottenham supporters haven’t forgotten him.
With two spells at White Hart Lane behind him and over 250 league appearances in the white shirt, the now Sunderland man remains a cult hero in north London, so whispers he may be available in a few months’ time have alerted Lilywhites supporters, with some here in the Transfer Tavern re-watching his best goals for the club while getting a little misty eyed.
Defoe has recently claimed that he may have to leave the Black Cats if they get relegated and The Sun have even suggested that a clause in his contract might allow him to move on for free if that does transpire, somewhat leaving the door ajar for a transfer.
With Spurs short of attacking options beyond Harry Kane, a fair few Tottenham supporters are eager to see him back at the Lane, and they’ve taken to Twitter to voice their opinions…
