Chants of you’ll never walk alone were ringing out in the Transfer Tavern last night, after Liverpool recorded an emphatic victory against Manchester City at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side made a huge statement of intent in the Premier League yesterday as they did what no other side have managed to achieve so far this season by inflicting defeat on Pep Guardiola’s City slickers. The heavyweight fixture at Anfield was a truly enthralling encounter, as both sides were clearly playing for nothing less than three points.
The clash against City was Liverpool’s first fixture since the departure of Philippe Coutinho was officially confirmed earlier this week.
However, the brilliant performances of Oxlade-Chamberlain and Georginio Wijnaldum in central midfield made sure that the Brazilian’s absence was no more than a minor afterthought.
Despite the dominating midfield displays of the aforementioned players, the Liverpool fans are still eager to see a quality player arrive at Anfield this month to replace Coutinho.
Plenty of names have been discussed on Twitter by the Liverpool supporters in recent days, but the latest name to gain popularity is West Ham United’s Argentinian ace Manuel Lanzini.
Lanzini’s popularity rose considerably this weekend after he scored a brace against Huddersfield in West Ham’s 4-1 victory at The John Smith’s Stadium.
