The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been arguing over the news (from Tuttsport via City Watch) that Emre Can could be targetted by Pep Guardiola upon him leaving Liverpool this summer. The German midfielder is set to leave Anfield on a free transfer owing to the expiry of his contract and whilst Juventus are the favourites to secure Can’s signature, Bayern Munich and Manchester City have both reportedly entered the race for his signature.
Emre Can still has an opportunity to convince the Sky Blues that they need him in their midfield as Liverpool face Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final matches next month. Liverpool fans will be hoping they can get one over the Citizens as they did in the league back in January. Liverpool and Wigan are currently the only two English sides to have beaten Manchester City in 90 minutes and if Can helps the Reds inflict another defeat on City, he could convince Guardiola that he’s needed in Manchester.
