Harry Kane’s injury has highlighted an issue that’s been debated among Spurs fans at the Tavern over the last couple of seasons.
The England international was ruled out for months after an awkward clash in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Sunderland, with a number of Spurs fans worried it could derail a promising season.
Initially, this hasn’t looked to be too much of a problem, with Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli stepping up to provide the goals. Spurs also had a straight replacement up front with Viktor Janssen, although the Dutchman has yet to assert himself when given the chance in the first-team.
The problem was highlighted in the 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the weekend as Spurs had to be rescued by a late Alli equaliser despite dominating the game.
In that game Janssen didn’t look comfortable leading the line, waiting for the ball sit up right rather than charging into the box like Kane would.

Anthony Modeste
More known as a Blackburn flop around these parts, Anthony Modeste has been carving out a solid reputation for himself in Germany.
The Frenchman is currently the Bundesliga top scorer, beating out the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski with seven goals in as many games.
He is also proving to be a key man in a hard-working, tactically solid Cologne side currently flying high in second place.
Modeste himself is a strong aerial threat and instinctive finisher like Janssen, but one is also mobile enough to stretch defences and link the play together.
Salomon Rondon
Should Spurs want a striker who is already adapted to the Premier League, they could do a lot worse than the one they played at the weekend.
Rondon has done a great job in a West Bromwich Albion side that doesn’t create a lot of chance and has managed a respectable 12 goals in 37 starts for the Hawthorns outfit.
While he wouldn’t be able to match Kane’s goalscoring record, Rondon would be the perfect man to hold up and bring Spurs’ superb supporting cast into play. The likes or Eriksen, Alli and Son would love to play with the Venezuelan.
