Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Vincent Janssen will come good and that the goal-drought he is currently enduring is similar to one Harry Kane went through, as reported by The London Evening Standard.
The comments have come as a welcome boost to the Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern who were worried they were going to struggle for goals with Kane out injured, but their manager’s reminder seems to have come at a good time as Janssen found his luck wanting on Tuesday night.
The London club were away at Bayer Leverkusen for the latest game in their Champions League group and Janssen saw one chance hit the bar, and another ruled out for offside, leaving him to ponder what might have been.
Pochettino, though, is far from worried, saying: “Janssen has been unlucky at times. Similar things happened with Harry. We need to give young players time. We and he would be happier if he was scoring but it’s a normal process.”
Kane did not score for a while at the start of last season and ended up being the Golden Boot winner, so there could still be hope for the man who signed from AZ Alkmaar in the summer.
His next chance to score will come against Bournemouth away as the club look to keep their title challenge on track.
