Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are starting to ponder about the possible signings that Mauricio Pochettino could bring in to further strengthen their title challenge and Champions League hopes.

Spurs endured a rather slow start to the season, though have been flying in recent weeks as they occupy an automatic Champions League spot. After proving unbeaten in their last 10 games, its beginning to look as if they can really produce some magic as they continue to hunt for that elusive trophy.

After an impressive draw last time out against the best team in the world, Real Madrid, it looks like Spurs have developed into a team that can now eventually challenge right at the top. Having added a couple of defensive signings during the summer, it seems as if these key additions have been the final piece of the puzzle in tightening up any defensive woes.

In having a squad with only 18 of the 25 players playing more than the 1 game this season, it is beginning to appear that Pochettino will look to strengthen both by bringing in new signings and waving goodbye to the more fringe players.

Having 4 players out through injury, which includes some of their key stars, the question that arises is, will these fringe players receiving more game time go back to waiting in the wings once the big boys return?

Here’s where we had a look at the possible departures that Pochettino should think about implementing…

George-Kevin Nkoudou

The French winger has only managed to conjure up a woeful 8 games since joining from French side Marseille in 2016. With the Tottenham team having arguably one of the most consistent front lines in the league, it’s become tough for this man to force his way in with any emphasis.

Having made 1 start so far this season ,it once again looks as if he really isn’t in any future plans at the club as he lives his life on the fringes of the squad. Indeed, it looks as if the likelihood is that Spurs will offload this man so he can go on to find regular first-team football, in order to help create space for a potential replacement.

So with the tricky winger looking on in despair, it becomes more and more likely that he will find himself back on the market come January time.

Eric Lamela

The Argentine has endured a torrid time of late as he comes towards the recovery of his hip injury which has kept him sidelined for over a year. Since sustaining his injury, times have moved on as he’s very much become a thing of the past with the current front 3 of Kane, Alli and Eriksen stealing the headlines.

Having been out of action for over a year and only returned to return to training, it will be difficult for the winger to work his way back up to the level he was at prior to his injury. With a possible return being rumoured for the end of November there, is an air of doubt around the camp as to whether Spurs will see the former Roma man at his best.

So with January approaching, it would make sense for Spurs to go shopping for a replacement winger for this man who may not get back up to speed until the early months of next year.
