Portsmouth: Fans celebrate League Cup win against Birmingham City

Portsmouth might have got off to a poor start in League One, but Kenny Jackett’s side have already managed to bounce back impressively.

After a 1-0 defeat to Shrewsbury last weekend, Pompey played host to Championship side Birmingham City at Fratton Park in the League Cup.

Although both sides fielded mainly fringe players and youngsters, the south coast team were able to come away as 3-0 winners in what was a dominant outing for the home team.

Summer signing Ellis Harrison scored in each half for Pompey whilst midfielder Ben Close also added to the scoresheet in a comfortable performance for Portsmouth.

Following a 3-0 win against a Championship side, Pompey fans were delighted with the result and took to social media to praise the team for their performance.
