Manchester United and Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are feeling somewhat encouraged this evening.

This is because the Daily Express have revealed how the two clubs have been alerted to the availability of Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

The Premier League duo are both considering summer bids with the 30-year-old’s agent having confirmed that his client will be looking for a move.

Despite Handanovic making 27 appearances for club and country this season, the Slovenian international feels his position at the San Siro is insecure.

He had talks with Inter’s Serie A rivals Roma but a move never materialised with the Red Devils and Reds now in with a realistic chance of bolstering their goalkeeping ranks.

That said, a stumbling block for the two English clubs is that Handanovic’s agent, Federico Pastorello has said that his client hopes to stay in Italy.

“For now we are not talking about it, as he has a contract until June 2016,” said Pastorello.

“There were three very soft meetings with the Nerazzurri directors. What does Handanovic want to do? Well, he certainly loves Italy…”

Despite this stance, you never quite know what will happen in the transfer window and this will be one to watch, especially if Real Madrid manage to get their hands on David De Gea.
