Liverpool: Fans react to clip of Ragnar Klavan and Virgil van Dijk after Euro 2020 qualifier

The Euro 2020 qualifying clash of Estonia and Netherlands last night pitted a current Liverpool defender against a former Reds team-mate.

The Dutch were captained by Virgil van Dijk, whose team won 4-o in Tallinn, while the hosts’ skipper was centre-back Ragnar Klavan, who briefly played alongside van Dijk at Anfield.

The two players exchanged warm greetings after the game, as seen in a video clip shared by @TheRedmenTV on Twitter.

Klavan joined Liverpool from Augsburg in July 2016 for around £4.2m, as reported by BBC, and made 53 appearances for the Reds in two seasons, playing alongside van Dijk on seven occasions (as per Transfermarkt).

He scored two goals for Liverpool in his time at the club, one against Derby in the EFL Cup in 2016/17 and a stoppage time winner away to Burnley in the Premier League on New Year’s Day 2018.

He was an unused substitute in the 2018 Champions League final and last year he left for Cagliari in a £2m deal, as reported by BBC.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter were highly complimentary about the 33-year-old Estonia defender:
