Manchester United: Fans delighted as Moyes set sights on Red Devils duo

Manchester United: Fans delighted as Moyes set sights on Red Devils duo - Manchester United

David Moyes is interested in signing Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard from Manchester United, if West Ham stay in the Premier League.

According to The Independent, Moyes is considering moves for the Red Devils duo if the Hammers manage to avoid relegation at the end of the season.

The trio worked together during the Scotsman’s ill-fated time at Old Trafford, and Moyes believes Jones is the calibre of player he needs to improve his defence.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer wants to clear out his squad in the summer and both players are expected to leave.

The Athletic revealed earlier this season the Red Devils are ready to sell the pair if they receive the right bid.

Lingard has failed to score in the Premier League all season despite being given plenty of chances by Solskjaer, while Jones has only made two appearances in the competition so far.

Although the defender signed a new deal last year, his opportunities have become ever more limited, and both could be on their way out of the door.

Unsurprisingly, loads of United fans raved over Moyes’ decision on social media, with one fan tweeting “good riddance,” while others added the club should “erect a statue” for Moyes and called him a “legend” for his interest in the fringe players.
