‘Club is a shambles’, ‘Beyond absurd’ - Arsenal fans fume after reported contract offer for midfielder

No player is loved more by the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern than Jack Wilshere. It hasn’t been an easy spell at the Emirates for the Englishman, with injuries really halting the development of his very obvious talent, but that hasn’t made him any less popular in the red half of North London.

He’s a player that is clearly passionate and loves the club, and so it’s no real surprise that that’s reflected by his popularity amongst the Arsenal faithful.

His future, then, has been an increasingly concerning topic of discussion for our resident Gunners, with Wilshere’s current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

Fortunately, according to Ian Dennis of the BBC, Arsenal have offered Wilshere a new deal at the club – but that isn’t enough for the fans over on Twitter.

In responding to the news, the Gunners faithful have revealed their anger at the offer – with many questioning the apparently reduced base salary that Wilshere will be offered as a result.

That’s no real surprise, not least because of his fine form this season. The Englishman has been a creative hub in the middle-of-the-park, and whilst he certainly deserves a new deal – his form dictates improved terms, rather than the opposite. He’s clearly a key member of the team at this point, owing to his increased significance in the squad.
